Have An ExtraOrdinary Home Through Our Exciting, Affordable, Uncommon Storage Ideas

Clever storage idea for your next home remodeling or building project.

Researching affordable home improvement or home remodeling ideas for an upcoming project?

Looking for a practical storage idea you haven't seen before?

Anxious you might not "get it right," and have to wait years before you have another chance to add some really terrific features to your home?

You've come to the right place!
We have over 1,000 unusual, innovative, clever storage ideas and more. Here are three from our collection that can literally change your life:

  • Magnetic drawer and cabinet locks that release and latch via a single remote-control button that controls an entire room or outdoor area. This is also the least awkward and most secure type of childproof lock we've seen, especially if you mount the control unit high on a wall where adults can easily see and reach it while kids cannot. Grandparents with arthritis will especially applaud this system, compared to the common plastic door locks that require considerable dexterity to release. These magnetic locks also secure drawers or cabinets in overnight guestrooms that you use when your guests are gone, or in any rental homes you own and store your possessions in.
  • A shallow closet or weatherproof cabinet at every outdoor hose faucet, for storing a hose at an easy-to-reach height where it will stay relatively clean, out of sight and out of the way. No more risk of tripping over a hose left in a heap on the ground! (And even recoiling and flat hoses can be awkward and dirty to move from faucet to faucet, especially if they're stored outdoors.) This makes gardening a snap, as well as hosing down the deck, patio or outdoor furniture, or washing windows. You'll also want flooring inside that prevents the unavoidable drips from encouraging mold.
  • Electrical outlets inside drawers, cabinets or in appliance barns on countertops, so small appliances and tools can be both stored out of sight and used without frequent plugging and unplugging. Ideally, everything you store in these spaces will be used nearby so you won't need any extension cords. You avoid countertop clutter, the items never get dusty and are always ready to use, and no one needs to fiddle with the plugs — especially when their hands are wet or arthritic. Just be sure to measure the sizes of the items you plan to store before you finalize these spaces' dimensions, so you avoid any surprises about something not fitting inside.

We also have 34 general principles and 10 essential storage principles of an ExtraOrdinary Home that all our consulting, books and presentations promote.

These are built-ins that'll enhance your quality of life and your home's value — big-time! — as they WOW you and your family. Best of all, most of them don't require a big budget.

And our 5,000 hours spent researching these features for every part of the house will save you hundreds of dollars and hours trying to find them yourself. We spent years collecting our first 1,000 — many more convenience built-ins than anyone else has — just so you won't have to!
